Sometimes it rains in summer here too - an ideal opportunity to enjoy being cool, the smell of damp hot earth, lavender releasing its scent, the novelty of raindrops splashing on your head and finally get a chance to use those umbrellas ... as a camp for your owls on the stoep ... and cook them some soup with 100% organic ingredients. Here is my children's recipe for rainy day soup:
1. First catch your rainwater.
2. Add some finely ground clay dust for colour and thickness.
3. Stir it up with lavender leaves.
4. Grind some shale into rough chunks and add to the mix.
5. Cook slowly for a minute or two.
6. Serve straight from the pan. Spoon feed if required.
